British Rail Bournemouth Blue Moquette Washbag
On the London Underground, there was Straub. On British Rail, there was this - Bournemouth Blue. Both similar and both created by the same designer - Marianne Straub - Bournemouth Blue has a municipal subtlety to its design, with a hefty dose of familiarity. There’s no doubting it’s a train fabric - it just looks like it belongs on one. Originally applied to carriages from Euston to Scotland, it quickly saw use on rolling stock on the line from Waterloo to… you guessed it, Bournemouth… from the mid-60s, and that’s curiously how it got its name. The design remained in use on trains until 1988, when a different blue moquette, Blue Blaze, was rolled out. Unlike many moquettes, it’s geometric, ordered and has no garish colours, so it’s hugely popular and will look great in your home too.
There’s no escaping moquette in some houses - there’s even some in the bathroom. Our washbags are unbelievably stylish and give bath time an air of nostalgia. Measuring 20cm x 10cm x 10cm and available in a range of popular moquettes, they are great for your essentials at home or while on a getaway railway trip. Waterproof inner and a robust zip make them long-lasting too.

Moquette is super-duper tough. If it gets a bit dirty, a good firm brush should do the job... For something really stubborn try some carpet cleaner. If in doubt - drop us a line.
